Social Issue
December 1, 2009
I am concerned about suicide. I’m a Christian and Christian ethics disapprove of suicide. The suicide rate is quite high in Korea. Some people now operates accompanies suicide sites and Korea now ranks first among the youth suicide
in the world. Experts say the loss of respect and jobs has led to a 140% rise in the suicide rate for men over fifty in the past decade. At least twenty percent of addictive gamblers attempt suicide and about two-thirds of them consider it. A woman who was a famous model recently killed herself with rope around the
neck. I think she has severe depressions. My uncle and my friend’s grandmother used the same method to kill themselves. After the divorce, my mother plummeted into depression, nearly taking her own life. Some one rushed on to the track and was run over. To help them they needed mentors to overcome their problems and depression of their life. The government can help them. I think with the government involved, more cases will be solved and help give closure to families, friends, and stars whose loved ones were suicided. The crime of aiding self-destruction is another big social issue. Korea is facing a difficult situation, which may not be solvable with words alone.
Email Interview
November 17, 2009
I interviewed Kim Hye-min and she is twenty years old. Her nick name is “Gui Me-min”. Her nick name is a joke about the pronunciation of her name.
The strangest food she ate is fried-frog in when she was young. She thinks it was similar to fried fish and it is much fresher. I was shocked because my nick name is “Frog”. Unfortunately, she had a car accident at about four-five years old. However she is very healthy without any after effects. I can relate because when I was elementary school student, I als
o had a car accident. The most famous person she met
Haha’s mother in Olympic park during Korea University-Yon Sei University sports festival last year and she wore black dress. Her favorite singer is Jeong-yeop and he was member of Brown Eyed Soul. His best song is “You are my Lady” and “Nothing Better”.
She also likes Big Bang. She went to Big Bang’s concert in January, 2009 and it helped relieve all her stress. I like Dae-sung in Big Bang, but she can’t decide who her favorite member in the group is. She likes “Hanmaem-mart” in front of Sin Bong Elementary School. She would like to be a that mart’s VIP member. I think we are similar to each other!

I can’t live without my Coffee!
October 29, 2009
I can’t live without coffee! Coffee is very important to me. When I
was young, sometimes my father made coffee for me. I always drink coffee in a café. My favorite café is Coffee Bean and I worked there also. Americano at Coffee Bean is four thousands won, it is very expensive! These days, I work in Beans Beach a
s a barista, so I am free to make or drink coffee.
Coffee has many kinds such as Americano, Cafe latte, and Cappuccino. I like Americano best of all. I am addicted to coffee, so I can’t live without it.
My Dream Vacation
October 13, 2009
I would like to go Japan on my dream vacation. Japan is famous for many great attractions. Disney Resort in Tokyo, Fuji Mountain, and Osaka castle are very famous
attractions. First, Tokyo Disney Resort is a theme park. Second, Fuji Mountain has history of snow that never melts away and volcanic activities. It is very high, so it
is can be climbed only during July and August. Third, Osaka Castle originally called Ozakajo, it is one of Japan’s most famous castles, and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-momoyama period. Most of all, I would like to ride a roller coaster and shop at Disney Resort. Also, I would like to go sightseeing and take a photograph on Fuji Mountain and Osaka Castle. I will graduate from of
university in February, 2011, so I would like to go Japan in the spring, 2011. I would like to go with my best friend because she is
a good at speaking Japanese. I look forward to will eating sushi and go to a hot-spring hotel. I want to stay just one week. I don’t know the cost of an airline ticket or hotel, but the cost will come to more than one million won. It is expensive, but I think it would be worth it.

My Major
October 1, 2009
I am majoring in Korean Literature. I have a taste for literature. There are many courses in Korean Literature, For example,
Phonology, Semantics, Current Literature,
Modern Writers, and Juvenile Literature. I especially like Classical Literature. When I was 16 years old, I liked my Korean teacher. She was generous, kind and gracious. At first, I couldn’t follow the curriculum, so it was problem. I knew nothing about that branch of Korean language, but I earned a better grade in her class. I respect her and want to be a teacher like her. I think Korean Literature is quite fun and interesting. Poems are rhythmical, and fiction is stranger than fact. It is natural that we should study Korean language, for the Korean people. After graduation, I will go to graduate school and continue my effort to study Korean Literature.
